The Friends of Wycoller are a group of enthusiastic volunteers who are working to maintain Wycoller’s magical qualities, encourage wildlife and ensure visitors enjoy a great day out in the Country Park.
We were formed in July 2010 and have been active with several projects including the ongoing renovation of a wild flower garden, obtaining 200 trees, now planted, placement of a bat boxes with cameras, ensuring that the wild birds had a food source during our harsh winter, development of our web site, organising “family fun day” fundraising events for the summer. Developing History, Natural History and Educational ”talk and walk” programmes based in Wycoller. Establishing a “Junior Rangers” programme for children 8 – 13 years in partnership with the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and Lancashire Countryside Service. Our Aims and Objectives include:
- Improve, conserve, support and protect Wycoller Country Park for the enjoyment of all visitors and residents, working in partnership with Lancashire Countryside Service (LCS).
- Enable park users, residents and stakeholders to give feedback to Lancashire Countryside Service.
- Carry out specific projects designed to benefit visitors, residents and the flora and fauna of the park.
- Provide opportunities for local communities to get actively involved with their country park.
